A wererat is a paranormal creature, essentially a man/rat being.
------ One is not born a wererat, as Lycanthropy of any strain is a disease.
----- There are two main types of rats - Alphas, and Submissives. An Alpha is a dominant, and is usually dominant. They usually are powerful, more so than any submissive, and very in control. Alpha's are responsible for the safety of the rode. If a submissive rat asks an alpha for his protection, either they can give it, or shun the rat. An alpha's protection consists of it's threat.
A Submissive is not that powerful, and usually must rely on the stronger Alphas. They do not posses the control of a rat, and can accidentally shift in moments of passion or stress - especially when doing the wild thing and close to the full moon.
------ A rat has varying degrees of power. The new and very weak have only two forms - human, and 'real' rat. They do not posses the control of a more experianced rat, and can easily shift into wolf form. Blood, sex, fear, and other intense emotions can trigger this. When a rat has been such for a period of time (say one year) they usually have more control, and have amassed some power. This build-up allows them the third form - the man-beast form (see above picture) Alpha's are the most powerful of the rode. As such, they have more 'abilities', such as, instead of paws, they have hand/claws in beast form. The VERY powerful can even do partial shifts, like their eyes, or taste buds, or even just body parts. Another aspect of being pack Alpha is being able to force a lesser rat to their will. But, usually, this is not needed, because the rode dynamics and rat instincts usually compel obedience from the submissive rats.
-----
As a whole, rats are pretty violent. But theirs is a 'contained' violence. A violence that is ever present, but never wantonly acted upon. Something in the genetic make-up drives the rats to be as dangerous as possible. Maybe it's because in the animal world, rats are not that big. As a result, most rats are skilled and trained at fighting, with hand or weapon. They have a special penchant for guns. Because of this interanl drive, the wholo of the Rodere is ruled by a single ruler, the Rafe (rat king). The Rafe, therefore, is very powerful, and has TOTAL and ABSOLUTE power over his fellow rats. However, because most Rodes are large, a Rafe has his second in command (Ton) and his third in command (Dohll) to help everything run smoothly. -------
The formal name for the wolves, the name that they call themselves, is the Rodere.
-------
When a rat dies, its body is dealt with according to it's rodes individual culture. In most rodes, it involve the consumption of the body by the entire rode. This allows for the spirit of the dead pack member [the yôkai] to join the Yôkaia. This is done to allow the all that the spirit knew and was capable of [healing powers, etc.] to be shared with the rest of the rode, when in need.
------
A Lupanar is a wererats' place of power, where they can meet in peace, and change during the full moon. Humans are usually not allowed, and guns never. ------

Rafe rafe - king
The Rafe is the rat king. He pretty much a total monarch, and rules his Rode how he sees fit. He (for it is always a he) is the most powerful, most dangerous of the Rode, and all his subjects obey without question.
A Rafe is branded with a mark of Kingship, usually something that has to do with his Clan name. In this instance, it would be a black crown brand on the left bicep, for the 'Black Crown Clan".
Nalla TBA
The Nalla is a Rafe's formally acknowledged mate.
Ton TBA
The Ton is the "second-in-Command". He is second only to the Rafe and the Nalla.
Döhll TBA
The Döhll is the "third-in-command". He is second only to the Rafe, the Nalla, and the Ton.
After this, there really aren't any ranks - just an heirachy of dominants and submissives.
--------------
Aro TBA
The cheif enforcer for the Rafe, and the cheif bodyguard. Answers only to the Rafe.
Bríí TBA
The other enforcer for the Rafe, the Aro's back-up. Answers only to the Rafe and the Aro.
